=====News 2===== === Preface === //Newsletter//\\ //354-02-01//\\ //Highlights from the Archive (Autumn Edition, 354)// Associates of the Archive, I am delighted to present this season’s edition of the newsletter, a particularly special one, as it coincides with the start of the new season here at the Archive. Autumn is a time where we reap the fruits of our labour, enjoying the bounty of the harvest. As the first leaf falls from the trees, and the air temperature cools, we come together to be thankful for that which we have and continue to endure. It is a pleasure to witness how productive the summer has been and to present the following items for your perusal. The highlighted pieces shall prove relevant no matter your research specialism. I wish you all a bountiful, productive start to Autumn. Yours sincerely,\\ Charles Schlechter\\ Head of Region for the Department of the Archive ===The Baggaban Storytelling Festival=== //It is likely that all of you will know roughly what happened in the festival, whether you were present yourselves, or watched the livestream. A summary of key stories is below, followed by an Archival report on the event:// * Leilani – a celebration of Nemean exploration, through the lens of fruit. * Yeška – a hero from Doip catching the biggest fish ever seen on the island. * Thalia – a hero called the Weaver holding a feast and bringing Yuu’s lost loved one back to oer. * Penelope – much the same story, except less confidently. * Traynnan – a hero called the Captain discovering a new, promised land on the Petu Peninsula. * Krates – the journey of a hero called Antithane from Nemeus to Endring. Told in an unusual form. * Ted -- a rap about Mr Ted Milksop (and gluten products). * Serrick – an abstract poem about dust. * Louie – a story about traditional Endringian winter cakes. * Mrs Graham – a fable about blooming ivy. * Semolina – a fashion show celebrating Nemean culture. A few moons ago, the Baggaban Storytelling Festival took place, bringing people from across nations together to share in the joy of stories. The day started bright and fine, with a series of speeches and announcements, before attendees were treated to a succession of stories ranging from abstract poetry to historical prose and fashion shows. Stories told came not only from Nemeus, but also the wider world, offering insights into cultural richness and tradition the world over – while café chain Mundmix acted as culinary sponsor, reinforcing the international feel of the festival. I am proud to announce that many of our very own VAAs participated, emphasising the importance of the Archive as a cultural hub, and the commitment of our VAAs to engaging with major events across the world, even at a great distance. The incursion of one VAA onto the stage as an unauthorised storyteller has been noted, and will be handled at a later date. Attendees were also able to witness an act of the god Flitch Baggaban, electing the winner through unexpected leaf-fall. Not only was Archon Krates Antithane’s story about the Nemean discovery of Endring a worthy winner, this demonstration of the continued affection of the gods for the Nemean people was a historic moment we are fortunate to have caught on camera. ===Archive Policy Announcement=== A reminder to all those entering, leaving, or living in the Archive that, as stated in Document #AR01708133, the choices people make are exempt from Archival research. ===A New Mundmix Opens=== //A screenshot of a text message, containing a screenshot of a sentence written in a notepad app:// Hi guysss!! Go and check it out :D\\ – Edgar ===Local Jellied Eel Salesman Loses Stall=== //Posted on the Nemean Tourist Agency’s website is the following:// Shocking news this week as Old Reggie, beloved resident of X, announced the closure of his jellied eels stall. As long as anyone can remember, Reggie has been providing the hard-working dockowners with deliciously cooked eels in flavoured jelly - now where will they turn on their lunch break? There have been rumours that a new Mundmix Café is opening next to the docks; could this replace the beloved eels of Old Reggie? Perhaps the new local Mundmix will include some local favourites to keep people interested? We will have to wait and see folks. ===Join the Mundmix Team!=== Enjoy the thrill of cross-cultural connection?\\ Love our newfangled remix of signature sweets found worldwide? We thank all those involved for their efforts, and ask that any updates be sent to Ms. Penelope Nemosi (if necessary, care of the Nemeus Heritage Foundation). ===Thrashing=== //A set of aerial drone-shots have been captured of Yuu by Archive-affiliated forces after what has been deemed as a “particularly substantial sonic disturbance” was documented to have occurred at around midday on the 4th day of the 19th month of the 2nd year of Baggaban. These pictures depict what appears to be a massive, cataclysmic rockslide that has swept down one of the island’s larger peaks before descending into the ocean.// //Upon closer enhancement, it is evident that a singular white-haired figure within the event’s trajectory has seemingly strode directly through its oncoming path, rather than diverting to the side.// //A small note of consideration is publicly attached to these images.// Given our acknowledgment of the Nemean island Yuu’s environmental volatility, we heavily encourage extreme caution while charting its territory. Should you have any further questions, please direct them to your most easily accessible Archival representative. ===Summary of an Interview with King Alden=== //This report was widely published within Mayton Greynes.// King Alden, in an attempt to strengthen relations during the 200th anniversary of Mayton Greynes, attended the Baggaban Storytelling Festival in Nemeus. It was a wondrous experience, reported the King, who felt like he had been immersed in Nemean culture. King Alden particularly liked Semolina Salviaterra and Leilani ‘Akamu’s stories, as they helped him understand Nemeus in a way he hadn’t before. Ted Milksop’s story was very entertaining, although it was a little confusing at first. **[This line has been removed from some versions of the summary.]** The winner of the festival, Krates Antithanes, had an excellent story, and the method of determining the winner was very impressive. King Alden did not have the chance to stay much longer than the festival, but hopes to learn more about Nemean culture in the future. ===GLUMM Law Modification Report=== //These reports are occasionally sent to anyone in or connected to Mayton Greynes.// There has been a routine modification to Mayton Greynes’ Laws and Legislation. In particular, the section pertaining to Messages and Designs of Clothing and Accessories. Please see the list of changes [[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x15RTCZUVo7JicxCW6G1YqMApCIOMeqfhyEsVbzVoKs/edit?usp=sharing | here]]. ===Gods on Tour?!=== //A report from a paper based in Xheech. It is accompanied by a photograph of the gods Liria and Kleiops, standing together on the Island of Alaxus, the sea stretching out behind them.// Unusual news from Endring. The gods Liria, Kleiops and Itztepex are all simultaneously absent from the pink shores. Itztepex has not been to Endring in some time, of course, on account of his ambassadorial duties. Liria and Kleiops travelled together on board Alaxus, which is currently resting in Nemean seas. Kleiops has gone to Yuu, pursuing the recent archeological finds related to his sibling. Liria made a low-profile excursion to the Baggaban Festival, but is thought to have returned to Alaxus for now. The island will begin its journey back to Endring in the coming months, after a period of trading with the Isles. Presumably at least some of the gods will return with it, refreshed from the change of scene. For now, only Mumnos remains at home, preparing for the Omnus Ocursus.
