It doesn’t take long for them to spot me.
Even when I lose my steam,
breathe in the halcyons I have let slip beyond the horizon-fence.
Climbing with such ease
in their rickety shoes,
worn down by stagnant molecules,
callous indifference swept into hapless current.
She blows against their backs,
attempts to kick up the dust,
and yet they don’t falter.
They just stare.
Stare into the guilty vacuum where my heart once lived.
Stare into the point that never fades.
Stare,
because I gave up.
